MISS EAST AFRICA 2009 Contestants start arriving Dec 1

MISS East Africa 2009 contestants are expected to start arriving in Dar es Salaam on December 1.

Miss East Africa pageant organising committee chairman Rena Callist said in the city yesterday all is set for the event to be held at the Mlimani City Hall on December 18

“The contestants come from 14 countries will start arriving in Dar es Salaam on December 1 and have been booked at the Kunduchi Beach Hotel,” he said.

Fourteen countries are taking part in the contest. They include Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda Burundi and hosts Tanzania.

Others are Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar, Reunion and Mauritius.

Callist said the pageant will be viewed by over 200 million people around Africa.

Burundi's Claudia Niyonzima is the reigning Miss East Africa.
