OVERWHELMED by a passion to put a smile on the faces of the unprivileged children, seasoned Tanzanian Hip-Hop artist Rashid Abdalah has composed a special song on their plight.
Titled 'Watoto', the single has been recorded at MJ Records in Dar es Salaam, according to the artist.
“Chid Benz,' as the artist is popularly known, said yesterday that the single was aimed at creating awareness of the plight of orphans, albinos and street children in the country.
“I am very much concerned about children in need and children at risk. I just want, in my own way, to support them,” he said.
“I've a special place in my heart for children,' said Chid Benz, adding that the song is a special gift to them.
He said parents shoulder blame for the increasing number of street children, noting that some of them rarely bother to take care of their kids.
“Violence in the family and lack of attention are among the major factors behind the problem,” he said.
Chid Benz voiced optimism that the song will help remind relevant authorities and well-wishers on the need to help out the abandoned and displaced children and find a lasting solution to the problem.
