THE Same District Commissioner, Mr Ibrahim Marwa, has warned that the government will not tolerate those who involve themselves in love affairs with students.
Commissioner Marwa issued the warning in a speech read on his behalf by the Hedaru Ward Executive Officer, Charles Kiria, during a legal aid camp held at the weekend at Hedaru which was organized by the Kilimanjaro Women Information Exchange and Consultancy, (KWIECO).
“May I take this opportunity to appeal to all those who involve themselves in love affairs with students that legal action will be taken against them,” he warned.
He said parents have the responsibility of bringing up their children by teaching them good manners and that those who don’t do so, deny the children one of their basic rights.
Speaking during the same occasion, the KWIECO programmes coordinator, Agnatha Rutazaa, said the organization recently provided training to people within the ward after a research by the organization revealed that there was need for legal, human rights and gender education.
She said the training programmes proved fruitful whereby a legal and human rights office was opened at Hedaru recently.
“This is one of the achievements of the training programmes and people can now get the services they need here, (Hedaru); rather than going all the way to the organization’s headquarters situated in Moshi town”, she said.
She said during the research, it was found that many people need legal services especially in villages but cannot afford transport costs to KWIECO’s offices in Moshi.
Apart from the meeting, KWIECO also organized a legal aid camp whereby people were given free legal, human rights and gender- based education.
